Our Tribal Transportation Program main objective and primary focus is the administration and implementation of the program agreement between the Native Village of Tazlina and the Federal Highway Administration. The program function is also to safely conduct any activity concerning construction, maintenance or upgrade of approximately 123 miles of existing routes currently on the official Bureau of Indian Affairs road inventory.
The Native village of Tazlina has developed a 20-year Long Range Transportation Plan to prioritize work or projects to be completed under this agreement. The maintenance activity is likely to occur during the summer or warmer months and will use tribal members when available to complete most of the work accomplished from year to year. Any work or larger projects involving construction will require additional funding sources as well as matching funds, and a procurement process will take place among interested contractors.
The Long Range Transportation Plan has been updated and a Tribal Transportation Safety Plan is also currently being developed where tribal member input is encouraged. There will be a series of public outreach meetings to attend and give input regarding the Safety Plan.
Any concerns or questions can be answered by the village Administrator or the Tribal Transportation program coordinator;
